About the Position:
Independently provide complex CAD drafting focused on maintaining, updating, and disseminating architectural floor plans of campus facilities (buildings) in CAD format. Secondarily, the position performs similar CAD drafting duties on electrical and mechanical plans.
This position is part of a Public School Employees of WWU bargaining unit. New employees are required to meet the membership requirements of the current collective bargaining agreement within 30 calendar days of employment.
Reports To: Assistant Director for Planning, Design, and Construction Administration
Working Hours: Normal scheduled work period is 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday with one hour lunch from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

About the Department:
Facilities Management (FM) supports Western Washington University's academic mission through the planning, development, maintenance and operation of Western's facilities and grounds. This support is accomplished through leadership, teamwork, and our commitment to quality customer service for the Western Washington University community.
* PLANNING: physical planning efforts for the University including development of the Institutional Master Plan and other planning documents, and the programming, site selection and schematic design of major capitol projects
* DESIGN: architectural and engineering services for the majority of construction projects. Design services for small, in-house projects as well as the management of large public works projects using in-house professionals or outside consultants and contractors
* CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION: management of construction projects generally over $5 million in value. Provision of full-time, on-site representatives who oversee the construction, facilitate the process and coordinate the activities between construction contractors and the University
Position Responsibilities:
CAD Drafting:
o Update and maintain University architectural and engineering CAD drawings
o Update drawings from redlined as-built plans
o Modify drawings based on mark-ups
o Print requested drawings
o Manage and verify the updated floor plans at project closeout
o Field verify floor plan layouts and dimensions
o Assist staff with CAD questions
o Troubleshoot CAD software problems
o Support office-wide CAD structure and standards
o Assist in engineering drawings and layouts and problem solving
o Perform other duties as required
Required Qualifications:
* Three years of full-time professional experience working with Autodesk’s AutoCAD 2004 or more recent versions on commercial or institutional facilities
* Ability to work well with, train, and support a group with various levels of understanding of CAD systems and data management
* Experience creating, updating, and maintaining tabular data in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and/or Access databases
* Ability to perform field work to verify drawing discrepancies
* Ability to work closely with skilled trades, supervisors, leads, technicians, faculty, and students in a professional manner
* Effective communication skills, including written
Preferred Qualifications:
* Completion of a recognized digital drafting school
* Three years of professional experience working with Autodesk’s Architectural Desktop and/or Architecture and/or Revit
* Trained and experienced in computer file management
* Excellent skills related to training and support of others related to CAD systems
